felt, back to top

Run your studio the way you already text.

Tell Pip, your studio assistant, what changed. Pip reschedules, nudges families about tuition and drafts a practice recap after every lesson. You OK every text before it goes out.

Teacher: Ella's out next Thursday.

Pip: Got it. Monday at 4:00 is open. Move her there and text the Millers?

Teacher: Yes. Who hasn't paid for October?

Pip: Done, the Millers have it. Only the Okafors and the Brennans. Send them a gentle reminder?

Teacher: Yes please. And send today's recaps.

Pip: All sent: 2 reminders and 4 recaps, with the stickers you picked.

Felt in 30 seconds.

Sound on, or turn on captions.

No menus. No settings pages. Just say it.

Pip understands the way teachers actually talk about their week.

Try it

Pip: Tap anything above and I'll show you what I'd do.

A week with Pip.

You teach. Pip keeps up with everything around the lessons.

  1. Monday

    Plans change.

Text Pip that Ella's out. Pip finds an open slot and drafts the text to her family. You reply Y.

    You: Ella's out Thursday.

  2. Tuesday

    Tuition day.

Autopay runs on your billing day. Two families get a gentle nudge. You don't write a single “just checking in.”

Pip: 16 of 18 paid. Nudges sent to the other two.

  3. Wednesday

    Lesson day.

Record yourself playing the tricky bars and say what to work on. Pip writes it up as the practice list.

Pip: Draft ready for Ella. Approve?

  4. Thursday

    Recaps go out.

Each family gets one text with the clips, the practice list and the sticker you picked.

Studio: Ella's piano recap is here ⭐

  5. Friday

    Studio check.

Ask who's paid, who's next or what you assigned last week, and get a straight answer.

You: Who hasn't paid for October?

  6. Weekend

    Yours again.

No invoices to chase. No group texts to untangle. Just Saturday.

Families just get texts.

No portal. No password. No app to download. The schedule, the tuition and the weekly recap all show up right where parents already are.

Times and tuitionPick a new lesson time or pay a balance in two taps.

Nothing goes out until you say so.

Pip drafts. You approve. Families only hear what you'd say yourself.

  • You see the exact text before it's sent. Reply Y, or change a word.
  • Every family message waits 60 seconds, so you can still cancel it.
  • No texts to families before 9am or after 8pm, in their time zone.
  • Pip never mentions one family's child, balance or schedule to another family.
  • Once you trust it, let Pip send routine things like reschedules on its own. Anything about money can stay approval-only for good.

Pip: Here's the reminder for the Okafors. Send it?

Draft for the Okafors

Hi Ngozi! A gentle reminder that October tuition is due Friday. Reply here with any questions. Thank you! – Ms. Carter

Teacher: Y

Pip: Sending in 60 seconds. Reply UNDO to stop it.

Recaps after every lesson

Record the moments that matter. Pip drafts the practice list in your voice. You approve and send.

Stickers kids care about

You pick them. They land in each student's sticker book. No points, no streaks, no ads.

Why I'm building Felt.

Hi, I'm Joel! I am a web developer and designer, and I have been working with music teachers since 2017. Now my own kids are in piano lessons. Their teacher is great, but she runs everything through Venmo and texting, and as a parent it is honestly hard to know where we are at (did we pay for October? what are they supposed to practice this week?).

I don't think she needs another app, and neither do we. I think the texts she already sends can do a lot more of the work, so she gets her evenings back and families always know where things stand. That is what Felt is, and I would love your help shaping it!

Questions teachers ask.

Do parents need to download anything?

No. Families get texts from your studio's number. Anything more, like the recap, a payment or the practice page, opens as a link. No account, no password.

What if Pip gets something wrong?

You see the exact text before it goes out, and every family message waits 60 seconds so you can cancel it. Anything about money always waits for your OK.

Can families keep paying by Venmo, Zelle or cash?

Yes. Forward the payment notification, or just text “Okafors paid cash,” and Pip marks it paid. Autopay by bank or card is there for families who want it, never forced.

What number do the texts come from?

Your studio gets its own local number, and families save it as your studio's name. Your personal number stays personal.

Is my students' information safe?

Parents are the account holders and give consent at enrollment, including whether lessons can be recorded. Nothing is used for ads, there's no tracking on children's data, and anything can be deleted on request.

What does it cost?

During the pilot, nothing. After launch, scheduling and family texts stay free. Recaps and the practice page will be a small monthly plan, and you'll see its price before you pay anything.

What does the spring pilot involve?

Up to eight Illinois studios start in January. You text Pip like you'd text an assistant, and while we learn, a real person double-checks every message before it reaches a family. Recaps start as text plus clips of you playing; recordings of students come later, and only with a parent's OK. Expect a short check-in every couple of weeks. What you tell us shapes what we build.

How much work is it to switch?

Less work than one August of scheduling. Send us your spreadsheet, an export from your current studio software, or a photo of your calendar, and we'll set up your studio with you on a call.

Say hi to Pip.

Pilot studios pay nothing. Scheduling and family texts stay free after launch, and you'll see the full price before you pay anything.

Spring pilot: five to eight Illinois studios, starting with the January term.
